Fall 2016 Music Update at Bethlehem Church
By Sonja Noykos
CHOIR AND BELLS:
We always welcome people to join us for choir or bells. Both groups rehearse every Wednesday night: choir 6:30-7:30 and bells 7:30-8:30.
Once a month during Sunday School (9:30-10:15 a.m.), typically the second Sunday of the month, we will have our Rise and Shine music class for birth-age 4 and their parents/caregivers. The first class will be Oct. 9. On Sept. 18, our Hallelujah Kids music class gets under way for ages 5-9, without parents; that class will typically occur the third Sunday of the month. Both classes take place in the Purple Room during Sunday School. Join us for singing, movement and dancing, and instrument and prop play, as we enjoy and learn Christian songs!
We’ll have a couple of guest musicians this fall, with Willis Dotson playing trumpet on Reformation Sunday, Oct. 30, and Haijin Choi and Adam Liebert playing violin and viola on Nov. 13.
LUTHERAN HYMN FESTIVAL:
Bethlehem and other area Lutheran churches will participate in a Hymn Festival at Trinity Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. on Reformation Sunday, Oct. 30. If you’d like to sing in the choir for this special event, please plan to attend two rehearsals; Saturday, Sept. 24, at 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and Saturday, Oct. 22, at 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The choir will sing two anthems, two hymn verses and a descant as part of the festival, which will feature hymns of Martin Luther and compositions for Reformation. Be sure to invite family and friends!
