Bethlehem Intergenerational Center is fully open

Imagine …

  • Elders and children planting seeds together and watching new life grow
  • Young and old sharing meals together.
  • Books being read by elders to youngsters.BICarticle
  • Elders and young children singing together.

These and other possibilities are about to become reality at the Bethlehem Intergenerational Center, which opens April 5, 2017.

About the center

Our Intergenerational Center, a new ministry of Bethlehem Church, consists of two wings: one dedicated to the care and education of young children, and another dedicated to the care and enrichment of the elderly. Programming is designed to encourage the children and elders to be together at various times during the day for activities and interactions.

Our Intergenerational Center builds on 46 years of providing the highest quality child care and education at our Hill Child Development Center. With the creation of the Intergenerational Center, we have added a new space for the care of seniors (65 and older). The Rose Room was dedicated March 26.

BLC IC 1What does a day look like?

The Bethlehem Intergenerational Center is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Activities, meals and snacks are part of both the children’s and seniors’ wings. Community and care are at the heart of what we do in both wings, plus education for children and enrichment  for seniors.

Numerous activities are planned for children and seniors. Many activities are intergenerational in nature.

BLC IC 2Which seniors will benefit?

Seniors who will benefit may be dealing with issues such as mobility, memory, health, or a lack of socialization opportunities.

Caregivers also benefit when their loved one can spend time at the Bethlehem Intergenerational Center and its safe and caring environment.
