HNCP AUGUST 2017 UPDATE: ‘LIVES ARE BEING CHANGED FOR THE BETTER’

HNCP AUGUST 2017 UPDATE:

‘LIVES ARE BEING CHANGED FOR THE BETTER’

By Pastor Jay Schrimpf

I just finished attending July’s Heartside Neighborhood Collaboration Project Core Providers’ meeting. Executive level leaders from six Heartside agencies spent two hours discussing issues facing our neighbors and neighborhood, sharing updates on their agencies, and brainstorming future collaborative initiatives.

Each month I leave these meetings energized by their enthusiasm, commitment, honesty, and willingness to be vulnerable. Each of these folks cares deeply for their agency and staff, the neighborhood and, especially, our neighbors.

When this ministry of our congregation was first formed more than seven years ago it was impossible to know what impact, if any, it would have on our neighborhood. The work that we have done with the many stakeholders in our neighborhood and the ensuing work that they now do together is nothing short of amazing.

Though most of you don’t get the benefit of the “ringside seat” I have, I hope that on some level you take some satisfaction in this incredible ministry, which was made possible by our move to this neighborhood almost 10 years ago.

We, as a congregation, are indebted to Sue Gilbert who carries on the daily functioning of HNCP completely on a volunteer basis. And I, personally, want to thank Sue for her work and all of you for your continued support.

Lives are being changed for the better – all the time, and in so many ways – because of the work you make possible through HNCP.
