LISTENING, COLLABORATION, UNITY

ARE KEYS TO BRINGING CHANGE

IN HEARTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD

It has been heartbreaking to see so much strife and divisiveness spreading across our country. If you see and value all people as being equal, it can be hard to fathom the disdain and hatred that appears to lie within the hearts and minds of some. Sadly, I imagine that the same holds true in reverse, and that those who foster hate for people of different races, religions, gender identities, etc. cannot fathom the concept of human equality.

So, should we just come to terms with an inability to change the world and then wash our hands of the matter? Or, should we dare to take on the challenge of trying to make at least a tiny difference in our own little piece of the world? Well, I feel called to take the latter approach. How about you?

At the Heartside Neighborhood Collaboration Project, we are striving to build collaboration and unity among the various individuals and groups involved in the Heartside neighborhood. As you can imagine, this can be quite challenging because of many opposing views, interests, and types of people in the neighborhood. Some respect and value one another, and some simply don’t. And many of our neighborhood problems have existed for decades, so how can HNCP possibly hope to make a change?

The answer –  HNCP cannot make a change … by itself. However, by listening to our neighbors, uniting with them on common issues, and collaborating with them to find and effectuate solutions, we can and are making a difference!

As always, thank you so much for your support of HNCP and our efforts in the neighborhood!

God bless!
